In the Weeds was created to commiserate about food, travel, hospitality, while trying to balance it all.

As a busy mom of two teenagers, I understand how busy & behind we can all feel. I feel the same, almost every day. So, let’s do it together, and let me help!

Hi, I'm Elisabeth. I've been in the weeds my whole career — and I wouldn't have it any other way. In this season of life, so many of us live in a constant state of overwhelm. I’ve decided to lean into it because I don’t know how to do life any other way.

I grew up in Spokane, WA, earned my Hotel Restaurant Management degree from Johnson & Wales in Providence, RI, worked in Atlantic City after school, and eventually, the Pacific Northwest pulled me back, and I've been here ever since. I plan events, am a partner in a brewery, raise kids (teenagers!), and generally operate at full capacity.

When my daughter was diagnosed with Celiac Disease, my restaurant-industry brain kicked into overdrive. I became the person who knew every gluten-free substitute, called restaurants before every reservation (still do!), and could spot a cross-contamination risk from across a kitchen. In the Weeds Mom started as a place to share what I was learning — and it grew into something I genuinely love.

Now I wear a few hats: I'm a FORA travel advisor who specializes in family trips and in helping travelers navigate dietary restrictions. I'm a hospitality consultant who helps restaurants, hotels, and event spaces create experiences their guests actually remember. I still have a full-time job at two restaurants where I oversee & plan private events, marketing, and social media. And I'm a mom of teenagers — which, honestly, is the hardest and best gig of all.
